About us

Generali, second largest general insurer in France.

Located in France since 1832 and with 21% of the global business volume, Generali France is the main foreign subsidiary of the Generali S.p.A Group, the third largest European insurer, and the second largest general insurer in France, with a turnover of 62.8 billion euros.

The firm operates in all branches of insurance both through its nearly 8000 employees and also through diversified distribution networks – 2200 salaried consultants, 1200 general agents, brokers, 1500 self-employed finance managers, major banking partners, and the Internet – which are among the most powerful networks in France.

With over 6 million customers insured, including 560,000 firms and professionals, Generali France recorded a turnover for 2006 of 14.2 billion euros, up by 6%, and is continuing to progress on the French market thanks to sustained internal drive.

With 7.5% of the French market, Generali is today the second largest French general insurer. The Group is ranked 2nd in life assurance (4th if banks selling insurance and the CNP are included), and 5th for fire & general insurance. Its ambition is to be in the top three players.

It should be noted that Europ Assistance, whose creation, in France, was made possible by Generali in 1963, is the undisputed reference in the trade.
